Happy Birthday to Father of Captain Nemo

Well Team Kids,
Today is the birthday of one of my favorite authors. I have read many of his popular books enjoyed them thoroughly. I read many of them again and again!

So, who knows this author? Have you read any of his books?

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870)
A Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864)
Around the World in Eighty Days (1873)
The Mysterious Island (1875)
From the Earth to the Moon, and a Trip Around It (1865)

Well - you may have guessed it already. He is Jules Verne. The most amazing thing about him is that he wrote about many of the things we take for granted today such as submarine, airplane, balloons, railways, going to moon and coming back etc. way before we even thought about them! For example, America put man on the moon in 1969 and he wrote about it in 1865 - almost 100 years before the actual event.

So, that brings us to today's star questions (correct answer to each question earns a star ):
1. Who was the first man in the space?
2. Who was the first man in the space from USA?
3. Who was the first man in the space from India?
4. Who was the first man on the moon?
5. Who was the second man on the moon?

BTW - More stars you collect will help you win real prizes (yaay!).

Here's how Google is honoring him. When Google wants to honor somebody, they create what is called a "Doodle". They basically write "Google" with some theme to reflect and honor an individual or an event or a region. So, today Google put up this Google Doodle (see attached image).

So, to honor him, let's pick up a book by Jules Verne and read it. I suggest you all do the same!

Here's some more details from Wikipedia. You can read more about him at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jules_Verne

Jules Gabriel Verne (French pronunciation; February 8, 1828 – March 24, 1905) was a French author from Brittany who pioneered the science-fiction genre. He is best known for novels such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), A Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before air travel and practical submarines were invented, and before practical means of space travel had been devised. He is the third most translated individual author in the world, according to Index Translationum. Some of his books have been made into films. Verne, along with Hugo Gernsback and H. G. Wells, is often popularly referred to as the "Father of Science Fiction".
